Who are we, what do we do?
Liverpool FoE are the local Friends of the Earth group covering the Liverpool City Region area.
Our aims and objectives
Aims
- To facilitate actions that will restrict and mitigate climate change.
- To work for the promotion of social justice, particularly in respect of the impact of environmental issues.
- To work for the protection of a healthy environment, in which people and nature can thrive.
Objectives
- To promote and support national Friends of the Earth policies and to give local focus to them.
- To campaign around environmental issues that have particular relevance within the Liverpool City Region.
What Do We Do?
We
- Raise awareness and publicise around critical international, national and local environmental issues.
- Lobby local politicians.
- Engage with local governmental processes.
- Liaise with other local environmental groups.
- Generate and disseminate information.
- Organise meetings and events.
- Attend conferences and events.
Group Structure
Liverpool FoE has a conventional group structure with a coordinator, treasurer and secretary. Group members take on specific roles and responsibilities, depending on their time availability and interests.
Members
Liverpool FoE members level of involvement varies from those who simply wish to follow FoE activities through to those who want to be more active in planning campaign and running events. As a group, we welcome anyone who wants to be involved in any way and to any extent. We are developing more ways in which people can participate in actions online.
Meetings and communications
We meet monthly in central Liverpool, meeting times are arranged via Whatsapp poll but will also be emailed to everyone on the mailing list. We have a mailing list of around 350 people which we use to send out meeting reminders, minutes, and any actions we need help with.

As members of Liverpool FoE, we commit to:
Environmental Justice
- Support the maintenance and restoration of an environment where people and nature can thrive.
Social Justice and Equality
- Support (via campaigning and messaging and personal conduct): anti-racism; the promotion of social equality, and the elimination of discrimination.
Resource Justice
- Support the rights of all people and future generations to access resources and live in a healthy and sustainable environment.
- Support resource reduction, reuse and recycling.
Action
- We will undertake peaceful actions to promote these aims.
